چکیده

This paper presents a 5-300MHz multi-nuclei NMR transceiver designed with spectroscopy for drug discovery in mind. The overall transceiver (transmitter and receiver), is implemented in 130nm CMOS, occupies an active area of 2mm and consumes 12mA from a 1.5V supply. The measured phase noise for the on-chip frequency synthesizer is -110dBc at 10KHz offset when the LO frequency is 212.966MHz (∼H Larmor frequency at 5T). The measured input referred noise floor for the overall receiver is 3.5nV/ √ Hz. The receiver NMR functionality was validated using a variety of chemical samples, including adenosine triphosphaste(ATP), benzene(C6H6) and ethanol(CH3CH2OH) in a 5T magnet. Full transceiver NMR functionality, including that of of the internal power amplifier, was validated with the help of a 0.3mL H2O sample.

NMR spectroscopy of single sub-nL ova with inductive ultra-compact single-chip probes

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy enables non-invasive chemical studies of intact living matter. However, the use of NMR at the volume scale typical of microorganisms is hindered by sensitivity limitations, and experiments on single intact organisms have so far been limited to entities having volumes larger than 5 nL. Here we show NMR spectroscopy experiments conducted on single int...

A Multidisciplinary Approach to High Throughput Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a non-contact, powerful structure-elucidation technique for biochemical analysis. NMR spectroscopy is used extensively in a variety of life science applications including drug discovery. However, existing NMR technology is limited in that it cannot run a large number of experiments simultaneously in one unit. Recent advances in micro-fabrication technologies ...

JOSEPH, BALU High-Speed Transceiver Design in CMOS using Multilevel (4-PAM) Signaling. (Under the direction of Dr. Wentai Liu) The design of a 4 Gbps serial link transceiver in 0.35μm CMOS process is presented. The major factors limiting the performance of high-speed links are transmission channel bandwidth, timing uncertainty and on-chip frequency limitations. The design uses a combination of ...

The research of 60GHz CMOS transceivers has bloomed due to their capability of achieving low-cost multi-Gb/s short-range wireless communications [1]. Considering practical use of the 60GHz CMOS transceivers, longer operation lifetime with high output power is preferred to provide reliable products. Unfortunately, as indicated in [2], the output power capability of the transmitter will gradually...
